FIFA World Cup 1966 Knock Out Stages
Although the group matches and semi-finals were staggered, all the quarter-final matches were played simultaneously. While English TV audiences watched on the edge of their seats as their team played Argentina, the extraordinary and constantly changing score line from Goodison Park kept flashing up on the screen.
The finals concluded in a dramatic finale at Wembley, full of twists and turns and a goal that remains controversial to this day. England had won the Jules Rimet Trophy.
